Course Description

The Leadership for Success: Workforce Readiness Certificate Program is a 40-contact-hour, in-person professional development program offered by the School of Professional Education and Community Engagement at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Designed for individuals preparing to re-enter the workforce, this eight-week certificate program delivers practical, competency-based instruction across eight dynamic courses covering leadership, communication, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and career planning.
This program is offered exclusively through a partnership between Texas A&M University-Texarkana and the Federal Correctional Institution Texarkana, in collaboration with the Department of Justice. It is delivered on-site at FCI Texarkana and is available only to enrolled participants at that facility. This unique partnership reflects a shared commitment to workforce readiness, personal development, and successful community reentry.
Participants who successfully complete all program requirements will earn an official Leadership for Success Certificate from Texas A&M University-Texarkana and be recognized at a certificate ceremony held at the conclusion of the program. All instructional materials, workbooks, and assessments are provided at no additional cost.
This program is delivered in person, with two course sessions per week over eight consecutive weeks.

Course Materials
The instructional materials required for this course are included in enrollment. Participants do not need to purchase any additional textbooks, workbooks, or supplies. All course handouts, participant workbooks, and assessment tools will be provided by the instructor at each session.
Attendance
Participants are expected to attend all sixteen (16) in-person course sessions. Consistent attendance is required for successful program completion and certificate award.
Assessments
Participants must complete all competency-based assessments included in each course module. Assessments are used to evaluate learning outcomes and determine program completion status.
Prerequisites
High School Diploma or GED Required. Participants must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) prior to enrollment in this program. No college-level coursework or prior professional certifications are required.
